The Chancellor yesterday made a shock announcement during his Autumn Statement, when he announced his proposed plans to raise the small claims limit for all personal injury claims to £5000 and to place a ban on the awarding of general damages for ‘minor’ soft tissue injuries in road traffic claims.
The devil may well be in the detail but at first glance the headlines do not make good reading for personal injury claimants or their lawyers, with many predicting doomsday for many firms, who are already facing difficulties in adapting to the many legislative changes recently introduced.
